Introduction
Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam that is located in the north of the country. It was also an important city that China, the Soviet Union, and other countries supported. Saigon is the city located in South Vietnam that resides next to Ho Chi Ming City. America and South Korea were the biggest supporters of Saigon. There were a couple reasons why Pro-Saigon supporters lost the Vietnam war. First of all, the United States could not expand the war. During the Cold War period, the biggest enemy of the United States was the Soviet Union. The United States wanted to protect Europe the most, so if America devoted too much money and military into the Vietnam war, then they could not have enough resources to defeat the Soviet Union. Therefore, the United States understood it would be hard to support Vietnam. Secondly, because of China, North Vietnam became a stronger enemy, and Vietnamese were looking forward to victory no matter how many people were killed. Lastly, the war took place in Vietnam, and Vietnam is geographically far away from the United States. Furthermore, loss of the Pro-Saigon supporters was not because the United States did not have enough power to win, it was because winning the Vietnam war cost too much.
