Vietnam War Introduction
The Vietnam War started with the the collaboration of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the National Front for the Liberation of Vietnam. Their main purpose was to impose communism over the entire national in hopes of strengthening their government. However, they faced the opposing Republic of Vietnam which was later back by the United States. Why would America, a country already struggling with the Cold War, participate in a battle that was over 8,500 miles away? Well, they feared that the rise of communism in Vietnam would influence other surrounding nations, such as Cambodia, Thailand, and Laos. They couldn't afford the spread of the very government that they were opposing in the Cold War. This led them to spend nearly thirteen years and thousands of lives in a war that they eventually lost.
